Ages Accepted
Community Christian Pre-School accepts children three years old through five years old. Children must be three years old by September 1 in order to be in our K-3 class, and four years old by September 1 in order to be in our K-4 class. All children must be potty-trained and no "pull-ups" or plastic pants are allowed.
Discipline
Discipline is an integral part of the educational process. Discipline often carries a negative connotation. However, without discipline, learning is sharply reduced. Therefore, Community Christian School has set basic guidelines to insure the welfare of each child. Most correction problems in the Early Childhood level can be effectively handled by the classroom teacher. Often it is simply a matter of discovering the motivation of the child and correcting it. Usually a private talk between the teacher and the child suffices. If the problem continues, "time out" will be used. The child will miss part of an activity. This is very effective. Should the offense continue, the teacher will contact the parent and attempt to handle the matter in a cooperative effort. Occasionally the Pre-School Director will become involved in the process.
It is the firm policy of Community Christian School to never physically discipline a child. If there is a severe problem, the parent may be asked to come to the school and handle it. When all efforts have been exhausted, it may be necessary to remove a child from the school. This would be an extremely rare situation. In accordance with child discipline regulations, Community Christian School prohibits children from being subjected to discipline that is severe, humiliating, frightening, or associated with food, rest, or toileting. Spanking or any other form of physical punishment is prohibited by all child care personnel.
Curriculum
We use the A-Beka curriculum which is age appropriate for the age of the class. Other curriculums are added where needed depending on the teachers' lessons. The children express themselves through art and music everyday.
There is time for outside and inside free play. Circle time consists of storytime, calendar, and subject or theme of that month. We do enjoy hanging the children's work on our walls here at school for all to see!
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
